Hi; I've been using Google Analytics (GA) for several years, with no problems. Recently, GA updated its interface, and I've since had repeated trouble with FF crashing whenever I've asked GA to display what it calls a "Map Overlay".

I've been in frequent contact with a GA support team member, who raised the issue with his supervisors. The best that they could offer was that the issue is one of FF, not GA, and that I should make sure to update to the latest version of Flash, and to try disabling various FF add-ons and extensions, to see if that might help.

I have since found that when I disable ALL FF extensions, FF stops crashing. I have individually tested two of those extensions -- Windows Presentation Foundation, and even the newest Shockwave Flash plugin (that I re-installed today!), and BOTH cause FF to crash when asking GA for its Map Overlay.

I will probably spend more time testing the individual plugins, but I'd sure welcome any help/experience/expertise from you!

Thanks, in advance, for any help that you can offer.

Hi Michael,

If Firefox works when extensions are disabled it's more likely a problematic extension that is causing the problem. Can you please start the browser in Safe Mode just to be sure?

If it works fine in Safe Mode please check this article on how to troubleshoot extensions and themes: http://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/Troubleshooting-extensions-themes. The sections "test for faulty extensions", "updating extensions" and "checking for extension settings" should provide more info.

Hope that helps!

Hi, madasan. Thanks for your help - I appreciate it!

Yes, starting FF in Safe Mode eliminated the problem, but I had already eliminated the problem by manually disabling all Plug-ins (it seems that the Extensions aren't the problem, nor the FF desktop theme - I'm using the default).

This brings me back to testing the plug-ins, to see which may be causing the problem. However, I had already begun that testing, by enabling only one plug-in at a time. I found that the Windows Presentation Foundation plugin made FF crash (ie, in my Google Analytics situation), and I thought the problem solved, but I soon after discovered that my up-to-the-minute updated Shockwave Flash plug-in also crashed FF! Of course, disabling Flash means not being able to view online video clips, etc via FF, and so that isn't a viable solution. I've still to check the other plug-ins, but, given that Flash is already a culprit - and that I need Flash - I think I've reached a dead-end!

Any ideas?
