I am running the latest version of Firefox on a custom-built PC with an i7-950 processor, 12gb RAM and solid state drive on SATA3. Over the last month or so, Firefox has been hanging quite a bit. Every 30-40 minutes, it will freeze up completely (though any audio from Flash or Quicktime will continue) and will stay frozen for up to 90 seconds before coming back to life. This does not happen with Chrome. I've scanned my PC for malware with Malwarebytes and run NOD32 for virus protection, along with Windows Firewall.

I have tried disabling ALL add-ons and plugins, except for Java, Flash and Quicktime. I've also tried uninstalling Firefox and reinstalling it, clearing my cache, restarting my computer, etc. With a computer like this one, I can't imagine this is an issue with RAM, disk (SSD!) or processing power, so I just have no idea what to do. It's very frustrating.

Any suggestions?
