Let us say that I have been using Firefox for 'a few years', i.e., since it was Netscape. It is a good browser, but (IMO) there is something weird going on. When I run Firefox for the first time after rebooting my Windows 7 machine, it thrashes the disk for at least a full minute - and little else can be done while this is happening.

So, my question is this: What the heck is Firefox doing? More importantly, is there something that can be changed to stop this behavior?

I'd say it reads full cache and/or cookies. It can last long for GBs of cache.

Note that Firefox 115 will be the last Firefox version for the Windows 7/8/8.1 platforms.
