Odd text formatting
I'm not sure how to explain the problem except to say that text in emails looks like random line breaks are being inserted inside words.
For the last several months I've had this happening primarily in Gmail messages but also on some websites. I've tried to refresh, I've deleted and removed the APPDATA folder and reinstalled, and removed/disabled all of my extensions and addons, but it's still happening. I've asked some IT staff at my company, no one knows why it's happening. Help?

If there is still a problem,

A small dialog should appear. Click Start In Troubleshoot(Safe) Mode (not Refresh). Is the problem still there?
While you are in Troubleshoot(Safe) mode;
Try disabling graphics hardware acceleration in Firefox. Since this feature was added to Firefox it has gradually improved but there are still a few glitches.

[v56+] Type about:preferences#general<enter> in the address bar. Under fonts and colors, press the Advanced button. Scroll to the bottom, turn on Allow Web Sites To Choose Their Own.
Make sure you haven't enabled a High Contrast theme in the OS settings.
- We have seen reports that this can be caused by a problem with fonts like Roboto or Helvetica that
you have installed locally and that might be corrupted or are missing some variants. Also, make sure you allow pages to choose their own fonts and that you do not block remote (downloadable) fonts.

Thank you for the help, FredMcD, I went through the list and here are the results.
Deleted all cookies and cache - problem still exists Safe/Troubleshooting mode - problem does NOT exist!
- Followed the instructions for "If problem doesn't exist in trouble mode" and found most of the suggestions were already in the suggested state.
- Went back into "real" mode - problem still exists
Checked themes, fonts, defaults, etc. again - problem still exists
Stumped!
You can try to disable hardware acceleration in Firefox.
- Settings -> General: Performance
remove checkmark: [ ] "Use recommended performance settings"
remove checkmark: [ ] "Use hardware acceleration when available" - https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/performance-settings
Close and restart Firefox after modifying the setting to make changes effective.
You can check if there is an update for your graphics display driver and check for hardware acceleration related issues.
Thank you cor-el for the suggestions.
All of the suggestions have been tried and none work. The problem does not happen in troubleshooting mode, but none of the suggested fixes seem to carry over to the normal default version. I have tried, refreshed, rechecked and deleted, installed/reinstalled everything I can think of. I have updated and re-updated the browser and drivers as well as fonts and themes. I might just have to continue to live with the issue.
You can check in Font Book for font issues like corrupted and duplicate fonts.
You can right-click and select "Inspect Element" to open the built-in Inspector with this element selected.
You can check in the Rules tab in the right panel in the Inspector what font-family is used for selected text. You can check in the Font tab in the right panel in the Inspector what font is actually used because Firefox might be using a different font than specified by the website.
