I am trying to go back to using Mozilla Thunderbird as my email program. I can't remember my user name or password. I have all my contacts on it so would like to get back to it. Seems my incoming server already exists. Don't know how to fix it. I hope some brilliant person can help me.

unless you actually removed your previous accounts and contact they will still be there. Even if you uninstalled the program.

So what is the real problem as it would appear you already have your account set up?

Thunderbird will not accept my password and I can't change it. Do I need to delete Mozilla Thunderbird and reinstall it. I don't like to do that as all my contacts and emails are on it. All Replies (2) Toad-Hall Toad-Hall

re :Do I need to delete Mozilla Thunderbird and reinstall it. No. It has nothing to do with the program.

Perhaps it might help if you could explain what is going on and offer a bit more info. Q: What OS are you using ? Windows 10, MAC, Linux ? Q: What version of Thunderbird are you using?

Q: What type of account are you talking about ? POP or IMAP ? Q: What server are you using ? eg: gmail, comcast etc

Post info:

   Help > Troubleshooting Information
locate 'Mail and News Accounts' section
copy all the data and paste it into this question in the forum.

Logon to your webmail account to check the password you are using is correct. Then at least you know the password works. Q: Can you get access to webmail account via a browser?

Q: Are you trying to create/add a mail account but keep getting a password/username error ?

Q: Do you have a mail account which has been ok for a while, but suddenly you got a password error when Thunderbird tried to connect to server?

Q: Or perhaps you can receive emails ok, but when trying to send an email you got an error message ?

Please provide some information so we can understand the real issue.

Thanks Todd for your reply. I have used Thunderbird in the past and now want to go back to it. I am not sure what version it is but it was installed 2 years ago. I have Windows 10. I want to use it for email. I cannot get into Thunderbird to use it. 1. Enter your password for "my email address on imap.gmail.com 2. Enter your password for "my outlook email address" on imap-mail.gmail.com 3. Enter your password for 'my name' on imap.telus.net

I think it is IMAP and outgoing server is SMTP.

One message that comes up is "Incoming server already exists"

I would be so grateful if someone could help me.
