Thunderbird won't send emails!
Just installed Thunderbird on a new laptop. However it will not send emails. The message is "Peer certificate issuer is not recognised". How is an 82 year old like me supposed to understand what that means? My server is btinternet. I've tried the fixes elsewhere on this forum but still I get the same message so I'm afraid Thunderbird is destined for the bin!

Thanks. Tried that but made no difference.
Do you have an antivirus such as Avast, Kaspersky, Bitdefender etc. scanning secure (SSL) connections, that may be interfering with the connection to BT? If so, exclude TB and the TB profile folder from AV scanning.
I have avast. But I dont know how to exclude Thunderbird !
Help/Troubleshooting, about:profiles, will display the TB profile folder location. Add it as an Exclusion in Avast:

Disable https scanning:
Thanks. Tired now so I'll try tomorrow.
