I noticed over the past few days that the bookmarks are displaying differently. What used to happen was that after my browser was open for an extended period is that my bookmarks would start looking like they did a long time ago. After restarting the browser simply by closing all tabs and opening FF again, that it would go back to the correct look, the modern look. An example of what I mean by the older look is that the separators would be much smaller, almost not even visible. The options when I right click also look older.

Recently, it appears that even restarting (even the computer) doesn't fix the problem. So it is permanent...I disabled any recent extensions I've installed and also cleared my all my cached web content data, to no avail. I thought there would be a simple explanation, but I can't seem to find one.

Any help would be appreciated.

I just troubleshooted with my extended monitor and realized something: This only seems to happen when I have "Second screen only" option selected. All other 3 options appear to work fine, albeit with different resolutions, which is understandable.

So yea, problem is not exactly solved, but it I do understand it now. Perhaps this would be useful information for the development team? I don't see why second screen only makes bookmarks and the interface look like it has reverted to an older version.

Do you possibly have an older 32-bit Firefox version installed that you sometimes accidentally starts where the 64 bit version has all your current bookmarks ?

  • (64-bit Firefox) "C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\"
  • (32-bit Firefox) "C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox\"

It is also possible that you start Firefox with an older profile.

See "Determine if Firefox has created a new profile":

You can open the about:profiles page via the location bar to check whether multiple profiles are present and what profile Firefox currently is using.

  • Do NOT click any Remove button on this page.

The only Mozilla thing I have in the x86 is Mozilla Maintenance Service. So no, I have a single icon I always click. I only have 1 profile, default.

Can you confirm with about:support that you use the same Firefox version (installation path) and profile ?

Version 77.0.1

Build ID 20200602222727

Yes its in 64 bit folder, forum thought it was a link?

Bug note: If I connect to another display w/ Firefox running it remains the same. If I exit and come back, problem. So the above seems to be the other exception.
