Is that an e-mail or a web link?

Hi Fred

no it is my email address used Google search as easy way to see if it types okay. vipstavevIgmail.com is what appears. first v should be t, second v should be 7 and l should be @.

As I type this reply a becomes , and a 2 becomes . @ becomes >.

Is this just with Firefox or the other programs also?

Start Firefox in Safe Mode {web link}

A small dialog should appear. Click Start In Safe Mode (not Refresh). Is the problem still there?

This problem is really perplexing. Does not occur in Chrome or Notepad I believe.

I saved my extensions >Webroot, IDM, Alldebrid, uBlock Origin, Minerblock and Translator. Then ran Firefox in Safe Mode and then Refresh. Problem appeared to be resolved.Thought one of the Extensions could be the problem. Reinstalled each Extension separately and tested for the problem. All passed this test. Pleased I turned off my computer and went to bed.

This morning problem returned. It is extremely hard to track down as one moment it is there , the next problem does not display but when it does as of now all the numerical keys below F1 - F12 display either a . or , or - Got me beat and now with all the extensions disabled at the moment I am getting for numbers 1 to 0 ...,,-......

Any more suggestions. I have also uninstalled /reinstalled Firefox. Next I might try an older version . I might add I also did a in situ install of Win =- Version =--. 1903. That should Win10 Version 1903

Sounds that you accidentally changed the keyboard layout to another language.

Do you have multiple keyboard layouts installed in Windows? Windows remembers the keyboard layout setting per application and you may have changed the keyboard layout by accident via a keyboard shortcut.

Don't know if this still applies to Windows 10.

  • Check the keyboard language (keyboard layout) setting for the application that has focus via the icon on the Language bar
  • You need to do that while Firefox has focus because Windows remembers the keyboard layout setting per application

Hi cor-el

Thanks for your input. Keyboard layout to another language and same keyboard layout settings checked with neighbor. We are in Australia. I haven't changed anything. Num lock is definitely off.

I thought I had fixed this problem yesterday by removing Australian English language and problem disappeared despite many tests. But this morning problem has resurfaced.

This problem has been going on I think for the last 2 updates of Firefox and definitely was present when I purchased new mouse/keyboard thinking this would fix the problem.

Problem does not occur using Chrome, notepad, Word but occurs when typing in search box of Firefox and entering data ?say> in currency converter where entry as 62.28 euros to Aust dollar is shown as .,.,.

I also notice that now 1234567890 becomes ,,.'..../. It has something I believe within Firefox does not like my Windows configuration.

Also if I close Firefox and then re-open all is normal for a while then this as at now example 12345678-0. before latest shutdown of Firefox numbers 1-10 when entered showed 23456789. Each key pressed resulted in following number being displayed eg 1 pressed showed 2 . showed 3 etc. I have been using Firefox for years without any problems but if this can't be resolved I will consider Chrome full time with considerable extra security enhancement.
