Firefox acts up on youtube

more options

First an error occurred while i was trying to watch videos on youtube something like "this video is not available" (also happened on videos i have watched like not two days ago), i decided to uninstall and install it again to see if that fixed something. The first time nothing changed, i did that again and it seems to work now. But when i try to search something on youtube and the drop down list appears, it doesnt let me click on any of the options, and the settings button on the video( u know the one we use to change resolution etc. )doesnt do anything. Currently i got Windows 10 firefox 61.0 i got no plugins installed other than Shockwave Flash 30.0 r0, OpenH264 Video Codec by Cisco and Widevine Content Decryption Module provided by Google. Thanks for your time!

Another user reported YouTube acting up while they were logged into their Google account, but behaving normally when logged out. Strange! Do you notice anything like that?

Also, some users have reported that YouTube generally works more poorly in Firefox since YouTube introduced the "Polymer" design. You could try reverting Firefox to the old design using the following URL or an add-on:

Hello,

Try Firefox Safe Mode to see if the problem goes away. Firefox Safe Mode is a troubleshooting mode that temporarily turns off hardware acceleration, resets some settings, and disables add-ons (extensions and themes).

If Firefox is open, you can restart in Firefox Safe Mode from the Help menu:

  • Click the menu button New Fx Menu, click Help Help-29 and select Restart with Add-ons Disabled.

If Firefox is not running, you can start Firefox in Safe Mode as follows:

  • On Windows: Hold the Shift key when you open the Firefox desktop or Start menu shortcut.
  • On Mac: Hold the option key while starting Firefox.
  • On Linux: Quit Firefox, go to your Terminal and run firefox -safe-mode
(you may need to specify the Firefox installation path e.g. /usr/lib/firefox)

When the Firefox Safe Mode window appears, select "Start in Safe Mode".

If the issue is not present in Firefox Safe Mode, your problem is probably caused by an extension, theme, or hardware acceleration. Please follow the steps in the Troubleshoot extensions, themes and hardware acceleration issues to solve common Firefox problems article to find the cause.

To exit Firefox Safe Mode, just close Firefox and wait a few seconds before opening Firefox for normal use again.

When you figure out what's causing your issues, please let us know. It might help others with the same problem.

Hello again, first of all i would like to thank you Wesley Branton and jscher2000 for your time helping me. Now, i tried it in safe mode and the problem still persists but i have tried signing out of my account and all the problems are gone, i also tried the youtube classic addon while logged in and it seems to be working just fine. i will keep using it this way and i will get back to you if something changes. Again thank you very much!
