Firefox 59.0.2 How do I Set Home Page to Blank Page

Have started FireFox and the blank page shows up on startup. Have moved to Options and said Save current page as Home. It does not work.

How do I fix?

My Yahoo change may finally be working for my search engine with the update to 59.0.2. Also the Yahoo Search has only one purpose and that is to sell you something, not to search. As bad as Google is with it's barrage of adds in which it targets you from every product search you make, at least you get a great search.

Personally I like Yippy, but they don't seem to have preference files for integration for FireFox. It is not a through as Google, but I like the clustering of responses. It used to be called Clusty. When Google returns hundreds of thousands of responses, you can't really find anything.

Hi, At startup Firefox shows the home page by default - as you get a blank page at startup, your home page is a blank page.

Please, see : https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/how-to-set-the-home-page

I recall it’s been an intentional development step to avoid including the Options page (or Preferences page on Mac/Linux ) to the ones set by clicking the Use current pages button. That’s probably why this button is grayed out when you have one window with a single Options tab opened. This could very well have happened in this bug effective Firefox 45.

What you can do however, is pin the Option/Preferences tab using the right-click menu on the tab and set Firefox to restore the last session’s pages (Show windows and tabs from last time), so it will always load/restore that tab.

Side note: even when using the Use current pages button when that tab and other ones are opened in one window, you’ll note the Options page is not part of the "normal" pages filled in to the Home field but part of a session, hence stored somewhere else compared to the "current pages".

Also note there will be some changes in upcoming Firefox versions for the Home and Startup settings, but they won’t affect this behavior AFAIK.

/Edit This reply was based on the assumption your issue was about not being able to add the Options page to the Home page section due to the comment below:

How do I Set Home Page to Blank Page?

In Options > General = When Firefox starts - Show a blank page

Is that what you want?

Would you take a look at this :

Worth a try .....

The problem is that "When Firefox Starts" is not the same as "Home."

My start page is already a blank page, but when I tried to make my home page the same blank page is did not work and defaults to this page below.

Unfortunately, this works only when you want a web page and not for the blank page.

Home page does not display the startup page. See image I posted in prior response.

The first sentence of your original post :

"Have started FireFox and the blank page shows up on startup."

Again : At startup Firefox shows the home page by default - as you get a blank page at startup, your home page is a blank page.

Unless you have set your home page to be the new tab page, in which case : see the-edmeister's post.

Did you try to set the home page to about:blank via Options/Preferences?

By default until the New Tab page is modified by the user, the New Tab is the page which appears upon launch of Firefox; and as you have mentioned that is not the Mozilla Firefox Start page or "Homepage" in Firefox.

My advice is to make a minor change to the New Tab page, using the gear in the upper-right corner of that New Tab page so that the default Homepage appears upon launch, which then can easily be overridden in Options by selecting.

IOW, de-select Snippets, Highlights, or Recommended by Pocket for the "minor change" on the New Tab page, and then the Firefox Start Page preference is then "controllable" by you to use as you want.
