I do not want or need Firefox updates. I am an old dog and I do not want to learn any new tricks. I will delete Firefox altogether if I cannot remove Firefox quantum and go back to whatever Firefox I had yesterday. EXACTLY, with no exceptions. I need this solved TODAY.

Unfortunately 56.0.2 is no longer safe to use for every day use, but 52.5.0 ESR is! It will continue to get security updates until May 2018, and you can download and install it from this page: https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/organizations/all/

Please let us know if this solved your issue or if need further assistance.

You are not solving the problem, just complicating matters. I already read this answer on other posts, and it is unacceptable if it only lasts six months. Quantum has made quite a few enemies in just a few short days. Perhaps the customer should have a CHOICE of what browser they want? I want 56.0.2 back. TODAY. I never had a problem until today.

Amen to that. They should have warned us with this upgrade that it was going to turn the whole thing into a pile of sewage.

That makes me never trust Mozilla ever again.

Hell, I'm gonna delete Thunderbird too, lest they crap all over it too.

Did you get updated, while you had the everything checked (see screenshot)  ? That shouldn't have happened  !
