I have received requests to update Firefox twice in the past couple of weeks and that seems to be unlike in the past. I have read that viruses have been attaching themselves to the updates, most recently to a friend's Avast program.

Hello loditom. Yes in past 10 days, 2 released updates from firefox 50.0.1(November 28, 2016), you already have that update, and 50.0.2 November 30, 2016.

you can update from Help > About Firefox and be sure that viruses not exist in official updates.

thank you
