I have started to get the following mssg from Firefox after I've logged into my "hotmail/outlook" account. Scanned with malwarebytes & bitdefender. Everything can be okay for a while before this occurs. I have also had it on another computer. Using 49-0-1 ie up to date and on Win 10. The next day everything can be normal!!!! Has happened 3 - 4 times in the past few weeks. Been using hotmail/outlook for years.

The owner of outlook.live.com has configured their website improperly. To protect your information from being stolen, Firefox has not connected to this website.

This site uses HTTP Strict Transport Security (HSTS) to specify that Firefox may only connect to it securely. As a result, it is not possible to add an exception for this certificate.

It's hard to understand why a Google server is in the mix...

On your network, are you using Google Public DNS instead of your service provider's DNS?

In case you haven't tried it before, the next time you see this, try clearing your Firefox cache and deleting your saved cookies for the site.

(1) Clear Firefox's Cache

See: How to clear the Firefox cache

If you have a large hard drive, this might take a few minutes. If you do not see the number going down on the page, you can reload it using Ctrl+r to check progress.

(2) Remove your live.com cookies (save any pending work first). While viewing a page on the site, try either:

  • right-click (on Mac Ctrl+click) a blank area of the page and choose View Page Info > Security > "View Cookies"
  • (menu bar) Tools > Page Info > Security > "View Cookies"
  • click the padlock or "i" icon in the address bar, then the ">" button, then More Information, and finally the "View Cookies" button

In the dialog that opens, the current site should be pre-filled in the search box at the top of the dialog so you can remove that site's cookies individually.

If you cannot access the dialog that way on a live.com site, you can open it on this site or any other site and edit the address in the box at the top to live.com to list out its cookies.

Then try reloading the page. Does that help?
