Why do I have to spend an hour straightening everything out after firefox updates?

My home page disappears as does my tool bars. This time was easy it only took me about 45 minutes. The last update took over 3 hours and I had to kill several viruses.

Did you get Firefox from Mozilla.org? How do you do updates?

These can't get your data back, but will help in the future.

Having more than one version of a program may cause issues. You must remove the older programs. Then get the current full installer.

Note: Edge on Win10 does not use ActiveX version but its own Flash.

Flash: Grab the uninstaller from here: Uninstall Flash Player | Windows Uninstall Flash Player | Mac

Then reinstall the latest version.
