On some links mouse turns to a finger pointer and link can't be accessed and I don't know how to fix that since they used to work on those sites.

The issue started about a month ago and is on some service provider links [large HMO user site, MetLife account site, bank site] and I can't use the links to access some account details or to use the 'email your doctor' function since only the hand pointer shows up in those instances. When I try to go to their help areas, I either can't sign in [user name & password area are missing] or I get sent to a phone prompt black hole when I call their help lines. I have auto updates for my programs and perhaps one of these did it? I use Firefox as my browser, have a Lenovo desktop with Windows 8.1 and I only use the Microsoft desktop to play games, otherwise use bookmarked sites. My internet provider is Comcast. Also, how do I know if any aps were added to Firefox....to my knowledge, I never added any but I can't find a place to see if any have been installed. Thanks for any insights or solutions.

Hello,

Try Firefox Safe Mode to see if the problem goes away. Firefox Safe Mode is a troubleshooting mode that temporarily turns off hardware acceleration, resets some settings, and disables add-ons (extensions and themes).

If Firefox is open, you can restart in Firefox Safe Mode from the Help menu:

  • Click the menu button New Fx Menu, click Help Help-29 and select Restart with Add-ons Disabled.

If Firefox is not running, you can start Firefox in Safe Mode as follows:

  • On Windows: Hold the Shift key when you open the Firefox desktop or Start menu shortcut.

When the Firefox Safe Mode window appears, select "Start in Safe Mode".

SafeMode-Fx35

If the issue is not present in Firefox Safe Mode, your problem is probably caused by an extension, theme, or hardware acceleration. Please follow the steps in the Troubleshoot extensions, themes and hardware acceleration issues to solve common Firefox problems article to find the cause.

To exit Firefox Safe Mode, just close Firefox and wait a few seconds before opening Firefox for normal use again.

When you figure out what's causing your issues, please let us know. It might help others with the same problem.
