how do i get rid of the GCLI box that has just started showing up?

it says it is for web developers, which i am not and never intend to be. neither do i enter commands at the prompt.

there is nothing there that says click here to never show this again.

You can toggle the devtools.toolbar.enabled to false on the about:config page. close and restart Firefox to make the change effective.

You can open the about:config page via the location/address bar. You can accept the warning and click "I'll be careful" to continue.


Current Firefox versions have a lot of built-in web developer tools including an Inspector and Style editor.

Note that this toolbar has a screenshot command that allow to take a full page screenshot of webpage. Type help screenshot in the command line of the Developer Toolbar (Firefox/Tools > Web Developer).
