no matter what I try I can not get hello to function. I click on the icon. I then hit "start a conversation" and the window closes. I can not get any further than that. no other windows open. I need to solve this.

hi MWsrII, firefox hello won't work in case you run the browser in permanent private browsing mode ("never remember history" in the options > privacy panel).

Settings for privacy, browsing history and do-not-track

so that made things open up. Thank you!!!

Please correct me if I am wrong or if I need to do something else/more.

1.click on icon. 2. click on "start a conversation". 3. click on "copy link" and email that link to who I want to talk to. 4. they open the email and click on the "hello Firefox link which opens a conversation window here. 5. follow the prompts and talk away.

now for the other side.

1a. I went to the contacts list and clicked on a contact. 2a. clicked on the down arrow in the green box and requested an "audio conversation". 3a. a window now opened that said "something went wrong".

so what went wrong? is using the contact list suppose to be a direct connection to who I'd like to talk with?

Is there an option to set up anything so that I can see things easier. I'm color handicapped. very difficult to see grays and words on black backgrounds. often I can not see them at all.

according to https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1124360 the "something went wrong" message might mean that the other part did reject the call. i don't think there's an easy way to tweak the colors of the interface at the moment unfortunately. maybe you can also report this through https://input.mozilla.org/feedback/firefox

Okay. I called my buddy via phone on the East coast that has FF34.0 also. together we tried to link up over Hello... (note: He hasn't a camera on his computer - I do.) We only got as far as linking up momentarily but without video/audio. after a minuet or less the something is wrong window reared. We both verified that our headsets were working through our control panels. They also worked using Skype. well over an hour later we were still unsuccessful at maintaining any kind of a link up. we emailed links. opened a host of windows. we used the start a conversation tab often. tried direct contact using the contact list we attempted to link up w/ computers w/o FF. we tried the What if"' route many time over... Nada... we are both registered BTW.

we belong to a couple of forums and FF Hello is now become a hot topic. (many like that there is an alternative to Skype. So far there are no reports that Hello is working for anyone. There must be something simple that we are all missing. Nick and I have a fair handle on computers but others we know are about as dumb as a box of rocks when it comes to computers. what ever is gleamed from this discussion will be taken to the forums. The tip about the private browsing was well received.

so... is there a real time instruction how to list w/o graphics (or in gray on gray) spelled out in very simple available to us? if it were to cover possible how come and why not or if you did this or that solutions as to why something isn't performing as advertised that would be great.

Thanks in advance people.

hi, i conferred with someone from the hello team and the issue might be that your buddy only has a microphone w/o a camera, since there are some open bugs around this. the one option that should work in this situation is if you create a conversation and send out the call link to you friend (direct calls or if your friend is setting up the conversation will probably fail at the moment until those bugs get fixes).

the conversation fails either way no matter who initiated... there is no video or audio transmitted over the Hello link for the short time it's open....
