On a CNC machine we have an old version of Firefox 3.5.5. (This I cannot update). We want to use the browser to make connection to our intranet. Our intranet adress were I want to go to is http://name/. Unfortunately when I type this, the browser automaticly attaches .com at the end of this line. This I do not want, because then the browser tries to make connection to the wrong URL. Can I change a parameter somewhere so that the browser does not automatically attaches .com or something at the end of a URL?

Again I cannot change to a newer version of the browser due to other software which is installed on the machine.

Any help would be very much appreciated.

Type about:config in the URL bar and hit Enter. Accept the warning.

Type this in the search bar at the top browser.fixup.alternate.suffix - then right-click the pref that appears and select Modify. Clear the "box" and hit OK. Then restart Firefox.
