To get backup of bookmarks go to your old profile - it will be folder named with 6 random characters and .default in

 C:\Users\{user name}\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles

Then you can copy places.sqlite into your new profile - you can find it using this guide. If it won't work, in your new installation go to bookmarks -> import and backup and select file from bookmarkbackups folder in your old profile.

In order to migrate files, you will need to disable the Windows behavior of hiding files and folders. This article has the steps if needed: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/wi.../show-hidden-files.

You have a few choices in the way you do this, but probably the simplest is to track down the bookmarkbackups folder within your old Firefox profile folder.

What was the OS on your old drive? I'll call it "F" for short.

For XP, drill down in

F:\Documents and Settings\username\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles

For Vista or 7, drill down in

F:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles

Assuming you find bookmarkbackups, there should be several dated files indicating the number of bookmarks they contain. For example:

bookmarks-2014-06-12_5354.json

You can restore one of those to your current installation of Firefox. This will completely replace your current set of bookmarks, so if you have saved anything new you do not want wiped out, complete the optional export/import/reorganize steps:

(1) Export current bookmarks to the HTML format. See: Export Firefox bookmarks to an HTML file to back up or transfer bookmarks

(2) Restore the JSON-format backup. See: Restore bookmarks from backup or move them to another computer

(3) Re-import the file from step #1. See: Import Bookmarks from an HTML file

(4) Re-organize the imported bookmarks into the proper location(s)

Any luck?
