The configuration on page General - Connection Settings is set to Use System Proxy Settings. How can I find out I which proxy my Firefox browser is actually using?

Note: This very question has already been asked at https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1208062. It has an answer which is marked as Chosen Solution although the question owner explicitly stated it doesn't answer the question, and indeed it doesn't because it just says to look at the configuration page which doesn't contain the information. That thread has been archived. Perhaps it should be deleted or at least the Chosen Solution mark removed.

The proxy is a way to use the web without being tracked. You would only have one if you set it up, or it's a used computer.

In the Windows search box, type Proxy, then select Proxy Settings.

Not in my case it isn't. It is a cache and security gateway.

Not necessarily. It is also possible and not uncommon that you are assigned one automatically together with your IP address if you are in a company/organization/campus network. Such as in my case. The reason I'm asking is in fact that I need to check if that assignment is working correctly.

I'm sorry but this doesn't help. The Windows proxy settings are set to "Detect settings automatically" and don't show which proxy is actually used, either.

The same problem here with FireFox 87 on Windows 10: - when settings are "Use System Proxy Settings." FireFox will not use the proxy

but tries to go into the internet directly

- Microsoft Edge 89 is picking up the system proxy settings and is running fine
