I have stopped using Google, and moved to Fire Fox and Yahoo, and all is great. But I have never been able to log into Twitter on Fire Fox. I have contacted Twitter several times and no help. The only way for me to use Twitter is on Google or my phone.. I would really like to be able to log into Twitter on Fire Fox...

Also I did an update two days ago, and many of my sites can no longer be loaded, do to update... do I need to reinstall or reupdate ....

Thanks for the help, Trey Coppland

Hi,
To fix this, trying clearing Firefox's cookies and cache:

  1. Go to Firefox > History > Clear recent history or (if no Firefox button is shown) go to Tools > Clear recent history.
  2. Under "Time range to clear", select "Everything".
  3. Now, click the arrow next to Details to toggle the Details list active.
  4. From the details list, check Cache and Cookies and uncheck everything else.
  5. Now click the Clear now button.

If that doesn't work, you can troubleshoot the issue by working though the steps in this article - Websites don't load - troubleshoot and fix error messages.

Let me know how it goes or if you need more help.

If clearing cookies didn't help then it is possible that the cookies.sqlite file that stores the cookies got corrupted.

  • Rename (or delete) cookies.sqlite (cookies.sqlite.old) and delete other present cookies files like cookies.sqlite-journal in the Firefox profile folder in case the file cookies.sqlite got corrupted.

You can inspect and manage the permissions for the domain in the currently selected tab via these steps:

  • Click the "Site Identity Button" (globe/padlock) on the location bar
  • Click "More Information" to open "Tools > Page Info" with the Security tab selected
  • Go to the Permissions tab (Tools > Page Info > Permissions) to check the permissions for the domain in the currently selected tab

You can remove all data stored in Firefox from a specific domain via "Forget About This Site" in the right-click context menu of an history entry ("History > Show All History" or "View > Sidebar > History") or via the about:permissions page.

Using "Forget About This Site" will remove all data stored in Firefox from that domain like bookmarks, cookies, passwords, cache, history, and exceptions, so be cautious and if you have a password or other data from that domain that you do not want to lose then make sure to backup this data or make a note.

You can't recover from this 'forget' unless you have a backup of the involved files.

It doesn't have any lasting effect, so if you revisit such a 'forgotten' website then data from that website will be saved once again.

Hey thanks for the reply, I have tried both of those steps, cache and cookies and trouble shooting web. And neither one worked for me.... I think I am kinda stuck here... Have even tried to delete my Twitter and start over on Fire Fox and it will not let me create new account either....

Have you heard anything about the new update and the yellow line going through the browser and not letting the website load..... this is a new one....

I do have Norton 360 on my computer and do run every night, and all is clear with it..... not sure what to do, I do like Fire Fox, and will stay on would just like a few things fixed up.......

Thanks again, Trey

If those steps haven't helped, you might try resetting Firefox (it will save all of your info and tabs).

  1. Click the menu button and then click help.
  2. From the Help menu choose Troubleshooting Information.
  3. Click the Reset Firefox… button in the upper-right corner of the Troubleshooting Information page.
  4. To continue, click Reset Firefox in the confirmation window that opens. Firefox will close and be reset. When it's done, a window will list the information that was imported.
  5. Click Finish and Firefox will open.

Can you attach a screenshot?

Use a compressed image type like PNG or JPG to save the screenshot.

Do you mean this?

  • Firefox > Options/Preferences > Advanced > General : Accessibility : [ ] "Warn me when web sites try to redirect or reload the page"

The setting in "Options > Advanced > General" is meant as an accessibility feature, as you can see by the label of that section, so that people with disabilities or people who use screen readers do not get confused and is not meant as a safety protection to stop redirecting.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).

  • Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window.
