Using VPN w/US location while ata hotel in Ohio
While staying at a hotel in Columbus OH, I used the Firefox VPN on a Windows 11 laptop w/ US location to log into Facebook. When I checked my email, I was told by Facebook that I logged in from Tehran Iran. There is a serious security issue with your VPN. I not wanting to use your VPN in the future with kind of thing happening

It's the other way around. Kids in Tehran are trying to use the service to obtain US–looking IP addresses, but then perhaps unknowingly geo–locate themselves in Tehran anyway — so some services like Meta then assume this IP belongs regionally to Tehran, which is not true. Just some other users of the same service are storing wrong data with some site operators. (The network used does not have any nodes in that region to start with.)
If you check your actual exit node used with a service like https://ipinfo.io/what-is-my-ip you should get the expected result there.
