I think I could paste here what JENN HODGES, Director of US Public Policy and Government Relations at MoCo, says about it.

I'll share a little bit about our public policy work, and I'll certainly dive in on the US. But most of what I say regarding our priorities encompasses broadly our global policy approach too. So our mission, essentially, is to shape regulation and legislation, to expand the opportunity for Mozilla's products, to protect our users, and to strengthen the open web. So Mozilla is unique, as we all here know. We build core web infrastructure. We're a company, but we're owned by a nonprofit and anchored in the mission. And this really gives us rare credibility with policymakers across the board. So we focus on legislative threats in age assurance and child safety legislation. This could be onerous obligations that might mandate intrusive age verification for browsers or scope us in inadvertently, or as it relates to privacy and security. So we try to defend our products and the web against proposals to ban VPNs or bills that might threaten end to end encryption. Just to be clear, child safety issues are really, really tricky, both in terms of positioning technically and kids' bills are volatile politically, and the discourse is very crowded. So we tend to engage behind the scenes substantively as Mozilla and also alongside trusted partners or coalitions to improve legislative language. And this goes for state proposals, US state proposals as well, where we're seeing so much activity right now. And obviously in the UK and the EU as well, this is a very big issue right now.
