Here is how to make settings suggest to save passwords : Go to about:preferences#privacy, scroll to "Logins and Passwords," and check "Ask to save logins and passwords for websites".

Other things to note :

• Make sure that sites are not in the exceptions list, and set to Never. (as in asking dialogue for passwords.)
• Make sure you are not in private browsing mode.
• Some websites have restrictions that prevent password saving.

Hello, Thanks for your response. Am using a new laptop and the password for the manufacturers (HP) nis the only one that was saved successfully.(????) Have used FF for many, many years on different laptops but using Private Browsing mode has never prevented saving new passwords. There are no "exceptions" listed0 The sites with no "saving password" problems (e,g, emails) on my old laptop now have problems.
