Can i restore lost bookmarks after app was accidentally deleted?
I was supposed to get my computer set back to windows 8.1 because I wasnt happy with winows 10. When my computer was about to update (which it didnt even do), it managed to delete all apps on my computer, including Mozilla Firefox. When i re-installed the app, naturally all my important bookmarks were gone. Is there any way I can restore them?

Do you recall any questions posed by Windows about what to do with the data that was already on the hard drive? Some options may lead to a special folder being created.
To explore, you'll first need to turn on viewing of hidden files and folders: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/show-hidden-files
Then check here:
C:\Windows.old\Users\your-user-name\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles
Assuming you find one or more folders there, one of them most likely will have your earlier Firefox data. Any luck? We can describe how best to rescue data from that temporary location (Windows will delete it after 30 days).
If that doesn't exist, try a global search of your "C" drive for bookmarkbackups which is a standard Firefox folder. Hopefully you'll find more than just your new one.
Yes, I do remember that it told it was going to delete all the "apps installed2 on the computer, but at that point it didnt stricke my mind that Firefox will be gone also.
I will try and thank you so much for your help !

Again, thanks a lot for the answer, but what do I do with the folder when I find it? How can I restore them or "transfer" them to Firefox ?
What did you find? Did you back it up somewhere safe? I have read that Windows removes the C:\Windows.old folder after 30 days so you may not have much more time to save it.
At least copy the old bookmarkbackups folder to your Documents folder or some other convenient location.
So... a lot of time has passed, and you probably don't want to roll back to June 19th at this point. What data do you want to rescue/migrate?
I did everything as you said, and I just found tons of files that I really dont understand much of... It has not been 30 days yet since I lost all my data. I'll make sure I copy that, thanks a lot !
I want to rescue all of my previous bookmarks. When I enter bookmark archive, I go to "Import and backup" and then "recover" but I just cant seem to get past that bc when I then choose the file in the "bookmarkbackup" folder I get a message where it asks me if i really want to reset my bookmarks and "if i do that it will replace my current ones" (which i dont mind at all)
I hope this answers your question, Sorry.. I am pretty much clueless right now

And I just copied the bookmarkbackup folder:)
I just managed to restore all of my bookmarks! another folder called bookmarkbackups had a backup from the 13th og june and I just manged to restore it all!!!! Thank you so much for all your help!!! I really appereciate it!
Okay, the files in the bookmarkbackups folder are in the "backup" format and you can apply the backup to your current running installation of Firefox using the "restore" feature. HOWEVER, IMPORTANT: this completely replaces your current set of bookmarks. If you have added new bookmarks you want to save, you'll need to add a few steps:
(1) If you want to save current bookmarks: Export Firefox bookmarks to an HTML file to back up or transfer bookmarks
(2) Restore your old bookmark backup (use the "Choose File" option to point Firefox to one of the old files): Restore bookmarks from backup or move them to another computer
(3) If you saved current bookmarks in Step 1: Import Bookmarks from an HTML file
(4) If you imported in Step 3, you should find the "Imported bookmarks" folder either at the end of the Bookmarks Menu or in Unsorted Bookmarks and you can drag/drop or cut/paste the relevant items to your preferred location from there
Does that work?
Whoops, you got ahead of me. Sounds like you're all done.
