Set Private Mode as Default on Acer Chromebook 315?
My husband's Windows computer failed, and I am setting up his new Chromebook as a holiday gift.
Unfortunately, the instructions for setting Private Mode as the default for Firefox don't fit what I see on the Acer Chromebook 315.
Please provide appropriate instructions. I want to place it in his office, ready to go, before he gets up tomorrow morning, December 25. I am in Central Time in the US.

Hi John
Am I right in thinking you have the Android version of Firefox installed?
If so, this support article should help:
Presumably it is the Android version.
Unfortunately, I can't add the shortcut.
Do I need to uninstall and reinstall Firefox?
Hi John
You may be better off using a desktop copy of Firefox. This support article will walk you through how to do that:
The Chromebook is Version 143.0.7499.150 (Official Build) (64-bit). No updates available.
I am sorry, but I am not sure what you mean. Is this the version of Firefox that is installed or the ChromeOS version on the laptop?
Chrome OS. x86 is not the version available for this laptop.
Ok. If you can install the Android version of Firefox, the link I posted earlier may help you to add a private browsing shortcut.
Reinstalled Firefox. The Private Browsing Shortcut popup doesn't appear on this laptop. Not sure what else I can do...
In Settings under Private Browsing, I see Add Private Browsing shortcut (no toggle), Open links in a private tab (toggled on), and Allow screenshots in private browsing. That's all.
You should just need to select "Add Private Browsing shortcut".
That unfortunately doesn't do anything.
I am sorry but I do not think I we will be able to get you an answer tonight on this.
