Dear Firefox Support Team,

I hope this message finds you well. I am writing to seek assistance with a persistent issue I have been experiencing in my Firefox browser. Despite my efforts to troubleshoot, I have encountered problems with various animations within the browser.

The specific issues include:

  Text Selection Animation: The animation for text selection does not function.
   Element Overflow Scroll: The animation for scrolling within elements in overflow does not work.
   Developer Menu Resizing (F12): The animation for resizing the developer menu (F12) is not functioning.
   Button Hover Effects: When hovering over elements such as buttons, the expected CSS :hover modifications do not occur.
   The cursor remains the same regardless of where it is moved. This is particularly problematic as the cursor often retains the icon corresponding to editable text even when over buttons.

Additionally, there are complications when resizing the browser window. Upon resizing, the window seems to "half" itself, making it impossible to drag or further resize. This behavior also hides the three standard buttons present in all windows.

An additional symptom is that when I initially open the browser, it functions perfectly. However, during usage, the first indication of a problem is the disappearance of the mouse cursor, requiring movement for a couple of seconds. From that point onward, all mentioned issues begin to manifest.

I have taken several steps to address these issues, including:

   Complete Firefox Reinstallation: I uninstalled and reinstalled Firefox from scratch in an attempt to resolve the problem.
   ESR Version Testing: I experimented with the Extended Support Release (ESR) version of Firefox, but the issues persisted.
   Hardware Acceleration Disable: I disabled hardware acceleration to check if it was causing the problems, but the animations still did not work correctly.

Despite these efforts, the problems persist, and I am reaching out to seek your expert guidance in resolving these issues. Your assistance in this matter is highly appreciated.

Thank you for your time and consideration.

Best regards,

Ivan Beltrame

Firefox 63+ has support for "@media (prefers-reduced-motion)" to honor System Settings to minimize the amount of non-essential motion. You can create a new Number pref named ui.prefersReducedMotion on the about:config page to show (0) or block (1) some animations.

  • set the value to 1 if you want to block animations
    ui.prefersReducedMotion = 1
  • set its value to 0 if you want to see animations
    ui.prefersReducedMotion = 0

The mouse cursor will disappear when typing in textboxes on Linux. You can avoid this by going to about:config and creating ui.hideCursorWhileTyping (Number) with value 0.

Upon resizing, the window seems to "half" itself, making it impossible to drag or further resize. This behavior also hides the three standard buttons present in all windows.

Try a different package format like flatpak or download the official Mozilla build. If you are using an obscure Linux distro, you will get better results with something more mainstream like Ubuntu.

Close and restart Firefox after modifying the setting to apply the change.

I can relate to the frustration you're experiencing with animations not working properly in Firefox. One of my friends, John Carton, has also been facing a similar issue when trying to visit his favourite sites like newtoki. co a new rabbit webtoon site. Despite troubleshooting efforts, certain animations within the Firefox browser are not rendering correctly. This can be annoying, especially when you're trying to access sites you enjoy visiting.

There could be various potential causes for this animation problem. It might be related to conflicting browser extensions, outdated graphics drivers, hardware acceleration settings, or even an issue with your current Firefox profile configuration.

Here are some steps that may help resolve the animation issues in Firefox:

  • Check for Firefox updates and install the latest version.
  • Temporarily disable any installed extensions or add-ons to identify potential conflicts.
  • Try resetting Firefox to its default settings or creating a new profile.
  • Ensure you have the latest graphics drivers installed for your system.
  • Enable hardware acceleration in Firefox's settings if it's not already enabled.
  • If none of these steps work, it might be worth seeking further assistance from the Firefox support community or reaching out to their customer support team for more specific guidance.

John and I both hope that by following these troubleshooting steps, you'll be able to get the animations working smoothly again in Firefox, allowing you to enjoy your favorite sites without any issues. Please let me know if you need any further assistance or have additional questions.
