Sign In: Email from Firefox EVERY day
Every day when I sign in to Firefox I receive this email message, and I don't know why. I have been signing into Firefox for a few years. I don't remember when this started and I'm not sure if this is just your way of authenticating that I am me or not. Please explain this email I receive from accounts@firefox.com. I have changed my password many times so that can't be it, at least I don't think that's it.
Thank you for your help Rhonda

You do not need to use Sync if you only have this one device and not other like a mobile device as Sync isn't meant to used as a backup, but is meant to sync/merge data between multiple devices. I only mentioned it because using Sync can be a reason for getting an email about a new sign in to the Firefox account.

I have been getting the same email since some 'maintenance' was done on the site.
Thank you Terry,
At least I know I'm not the only one with this problem, but apparently it is going to continue.
Rhonda
Do you have to sign in every day to the Firefox Account as for Sync Firefox normally stores the credentials in logins.json (hidden from the Password Manager) ?
To Cor-el
Thank you for replying. I do not use Password Manager as I'm one of those people who believes that if government accounts can be hacked into then certainly Password Manager accounts can be hacked. In fact, I read recently that did happen. I don't remember by whom or who was affected but it confirmed my belief.
Also, I really don't understand Sync. When I log into Firefox it asks me if I want to Sync with other devices. I don't have other devices so I answer no. I don't use a Smart Phone, I don't have any other computers so it doesn't make sense to me. However, if there is something more to this please let me know.
However, that still does not answer my question as to why Firefox switched from MS 10 to MS 8 in its messages since I have never used MS 8. When I downloaded Mozilla Firefox from Microsoft's Store then Firefox showed Windows 10 as my OS, but I still received an email from Firefox with the correct OS MS 10 and the message "Your Account was Used to Sign In" etc., etc.. It sounds like you are saying that since I don't Sync when I log in that is the problem. I just clicked on Sync and nothing happened.
Thanks, Rhonda

I did a bit of research and found this information:
Syncing: ON You are currently syncing these items: Bookmarks Add-ons Settings
But, it seems like I need to Sync Passwords in order not to have to login every day? Rhonda
No, this is a special login (chrome://FirefoxAccounts) and is only used locally similar to the Primary Password and is not included in syncing logins.
Aren't you automatically signed in to Sync each day ?
I struggle with your questions because I don't understand Syncing to begin with and I have no idea if I am automatically signed in to Sync each day. I believe that is set up with Windows 10 but I woudn't bet on that. I do not work from home, I use my PC strictly for personal use and no one else ever uses my PC.
Well, I just explored the Internet for What is Syncing and why does it matter, and I don't know anything more than I did before. I am one person using one PC. One thing I did read was something about copying and backing up files in the cloud so you have to Sync for that, I guess.
I am not new to computers and MS OS but now it is so complicated since Windows 10 that I would just love to go back to Windows 7. Why do I need to Sync anything? I suppose it is a good idea if it is backing up files in the Cloud, but all of your questions are confusing to me. Why would I use Chrome://FirefoxAccounts, I have absolutely no idea and are you speaking of logging into Firefox that way?
I have already set-up automatic updates in Windows for MSIX Package. I think that's what I am supposed to do.
I log out of Microsoft and Firefox every night, then log in the next morning to each. I use Outlook Live for my email account which requires a Microsoft login and password. I log in to Firefox which also requires a login and password.
I've never heard of logging in using Chrome://FirefoxAcconts and why would I use Chrome to log into Firefox? When I log into Firefox I am asked if I want to Sync with another device, as I said before, and listed under my Firefox Account is my email address, Sync Now, Connect Another Device, and lastly Sign Out.
I didn't start using Firefox until a few years ago so I was always logged into Microsoft and Outlook. What am I Syncing? As I said I do not have any other devices. I can tell you this, since I downloaded Firefox from the MS app things seem to be running more smoothly.
I really do want to learn more from you because obviously I have a block somewhere about this Syncing issue.

Thank you so much for that piece of information. I feel better now, but still don't know why I continue to receive email messages from Firefox.
Thanks
