I use/like the randomly-generated 'strong' password feature, but is there a setting/option to have it include one or more special character(s)? So many sites nowadays require one, and VERY few *prohibit* them. I know I can 'substitute' one in there, but I'm VERY lazy! Thanks.

I didn't say I couldn't; I asked if Firefox did/would. I *could* dig a trench with a teaspoon, too, but having the gardener use a shovel is wiser. If you're a Dropa-out and need me to use smaller words for you, just say so.

Thanks; I saw that before posting, but as it was 'closed' and almost a year old I had some hope...and it never hurts if different folks keep asking for one goody or another. I am surprised 'somebody' can't just add  !@#$%`~;'^&*()_<>? to the A-Z 1-9 character set already used; if by chance one of them didn't appear in the proffered password the user could just 'spin again'. But I'm no coder!

You should be able to edit the generated password and add symbols and other special characters yourself before you accept/save this password as I don't think that current releases support this.

Thanks for that reference; interesting 'background' reading.

But as to your actual 'edit' suggestion, in my initial question I'd already referenced it: I know I can substitute one in there, but I'm VERY lazy! Thanks.

In general: Now I'm wondering if this forum awards 'geek points' just for responding; several shown above suggest folks DON'T bother to read/process my initial lousy 3 line question before 'answering'.

Hi,

The people who answer questions here, for the most part, are other users volunteering their time (like me), not Mozilla employees or developers.

If you want to leave feedback for developers about your suggestion, you can go to the Firefox Help menu and select either Share ideas and feedback… or Submit feedback…, depending on your Firefox version. Alternatively, you can use this link. Your feedback gets collected by a team of people who read it and gather data about the most common issues.

You can also file a bug report or feature request. See File a bug report or feature request for Mozilla products for details.

Yes, I get that most everyone is a volunteer...Yay! Now I invite you to read my original post, THEN the responses, and honestly decide for *yourself* how many advanced the conversation in a meaningful way.

Yep, nobody is doing this for pay...but some folks sure covet those "Top 10 Contributor" badges. Thanks!

We have outlined how you can add a special character in a generated password and have explained how you can request this feature directly.

I am going to close this thread now as there is nothing more we can do to help you with this issue, but please feel free to open a new question if you require our help in the future.
