Firefox crashes most of the time when I close the browser
Hello Firefox Support Staff,
I use Firefox on a Windows 10 desktop PC.
Firefox often crashes when I close the browser by clicking the X either at the top right or the tab.
Please let me know the type of information you need to debug.
Thanks, Sam

You should use the exit command to close the browser. Nevertheless, the browser shouldn't crash. I just fixed the same problem (using exit) by restoring a profile backup but you may not have backups. To get support, see this article.

To troubleshoot see this article.

Here is the crash notification I typically get after closing Firefox. How can I send the details of the crash report?
Thanks for your reply Terry. How do I send the details of the crash report?
Using the "exit command to close the browser" does not reliably help. Firefox crashes sometimes even when the Exit command is used.

Thanks for your reply, cor-el.
I however do not get how to fix this.
The link you sent https://firefox-storage-test.glitch.me/ does not work.

Start Firefox in Troubleshoot Mode to check if one of the extensions ("3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Add-ons -> Extensions) or if hardware acceleration or if userChrome.css/userContent.css is causing the problem.
- switch to the DEFAULT theme: "3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Add-ons -> Themes
- do NOT click the "Refresh Firefox" button on the Troubleshoot Mode start window

You can create a new profile as a quick test to see if your current profile is causing the problem.
See "Creating a profile":
If the new profile works, you can transfer files from a previously used profile to the new profile, but be cautious not to copy corrupted files to avoid carrying over problems.
Thank you for your reply, cor-el and helpful instructions.
Here is a screenshot of my Themes as shown at about: addons:
Does this mean I currently have the Default theme enabled?
If not, how do I get the Default theme?
Yes, the system theme is the default theme, so that is OKay.
In what way does the glitch.me link not work ?
Are there relevant-looking messages in the Web Console ?
Last evening, I disable the hardware acceleration check box under Performance. This has not fixed the problem. The browser crashed again today when I exited via Menu > Exit.

Any update on this thread?
Hi
That crash report suggests that there is an issue with a file linked to a Symantec product on your computer (Symantec Intrusion Detection). Is this Symantec software up to date?

The Norton 360 software (Symantec product) is up-to-date. Is there a way to investigate this further?
