Gmail opening only in HTML
Ever since your last two updates - Nov 4 and 5 - Gmail won't open in Standard View - only in HTML
I'm running Window 10 Pro (64) on a four year old PC
I can get Gmail to load in Standard view if I use Chrome (which I don't like) and in FireFox's Private window but it is inconvenient to have to which back and forth between windows.
I have tried all the fixes everyone a Google has given me but it come to a page that say Do you really want to view in HTML - why not click this button to be taken to Standard View" . I click on that link a page flashes for a millisecond and goes back to the " Do you really want to view in HTML"
I"m at my wits end.
Please help Wendy

And are you using css codes? As in userChrome.css if so you should disable or remove and see what happens. And what Addons are you using it could be something isn't working and causing the issue. Also did you use Firefox in "Private Mode windows" to verify where the issue might be?
"Private Window" mode displayed all my Gmail accounts in Standard view.
I'm not using CSS or Chrome - at least when I'm not checking out how a new website design works in other than my standard home browser FireFox.
I went to your support link and was about to try the Ctrl + Shift + R solution and thought that I would need to have a Gmail window open so I opened it expecting to see the HTML version only to be pleasantly surprised to have it open in Standard view. I'm really happy it did but don't understand why it went back to displaying in Standard view without doing anything more than asking the question and finding your reply or why it converted to HTML in the first place.
I'm not going to look a gift horse in the mouth however I'm just really thankful that it is working the way it should!
Thanks so much for your help.
Hi, @RoseWarriorPrime ,
I'm not sure, but just in case: the attached screenshot in your first post seems to me like the mobile version of Gmail, not the HTML one for desktop. Maybe you used something like Side View or Responsive Design Mode?, or maybe a link to the mobile version...
Just mentioning it for future reference.
Glad your issue is fixed.
Kind regards.
