I have lost my 'sent mail' list how do I get it back?

Turned on my e-mail and found that there were none of the previously listed access places such as 'sent mail'. I can still receive and send messages, but cannot access them once they have been sent, or find any way even of reading them or deleting them. Hope you can help - thank you.
