I have a folder named 'Downloads' and when I save to it, another folder with the same name appears within it.

Using FF 17.

I have a folder named 'Downloads' in the folder list under the main HD header. Setting the 'Save to' folder name to 'Downloads' results in a 'Save files to' destination of C:\Downloads\Downloads.

How do I fix this short of going back to an earlier version of FF?

This issue can be caused by an extension that isn't working properly.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).

  • Do not click the Reset button on the Safe mode start window or otherwise make changes.
