started firefox in safe mode, now all my links/bookmarks are missing. How do I restore the links and bookmarks on my tool bar?

Firefox was hanging - so I started it in safe mode and checked 'delete bookmarks' ... I didn't realize it would delete all my links on the tool bar! how do I restore them? (I've tried a system restore and it didn't help, at all)
