Anytime that I open a pdf using firefox the page will load but will just leave a blank page with nothing displayed. Reloading does not help and I have tried to change my settings around to no avail

No advice here, just try updating your browser — it will most likely come with another version of the library so you'll see if anything changes with additional updates.
