My Firefox is set to auto-update and did so Wednesday night, so it's currently 152.0.1 (64-bit). Since then, it’s been virtually unusable on my home computer (a 2017 iMac Intel Core i5 running Ventura 13.7.8).

I’ve changed nothing about the way I browse, yet having multiple tabs open at a time makes the application either non-responsive and I have to force quit or makes it crash (from today: bp-3c95c176-fde2-40e4-a61c-c5c080260619 bp-7ebe2fc9-0be2-4db2-b0e3-675df0260619 bp-bfe86698-eaf0-4cd2-96c3-ed20b0260619

It crashed four times yesterday as well, but I inadvertently submitted ALL previously un-submitted crashes, so I'd have to dig through to find ones from June 18th).

I can't get most websites to load. I cleared all my browsing data this afternoon in the hopes that it would help, but now I'm having trouble logging into sites like Facebook, Instagram, etc.

Videos on any platform will not load, let alone play. Instagram, YouTube, Peacock (which I think was having an outage last night), Twitter, BlueSky, etc. YouTube BRIEFLY loaded and played a video last night but there was no audio. I tried searching a word’s pronunciation in Google, no audio. It will not play audio on any music sites (SoundCloud and Bandcamp; they both show that the music is playing, but the indicator bars do not move on either site, and again, no audio).

I believe this is an update issue because work computer (MacBook Air, 2017 running Monterey 12.7.6) is using Firefox 151.0.1 and everything is working as normal there (fortunately I leave Firefox open all the time on that computer so it hasn't auto-updated). It had also been running fine BEFORE the update.

Any ideas on a fix?

I have several saved cards in 152.0.1 (64-bit). When on a payment site the drop-down list shows up as expected, so the extensions.formautofill.creditCards.supportedCountries is correct and working (GB). Also address filling still works, as does saved passwords,

However if I try to "Manage payment methods" the resulting list in "about:preferences#managePayments" is blank. (see image)

I have tried toggling on and off "save & autofill" and restarting, but nothing helps.

Adding a new card works, and the new card appears in the drop-down list on a payment form, but still nothing appears to edit or remove in the settings. How an I edit this list?

PS: I have disabled ALL extensions.

Since the latest version (152.0), right clicking on a file link, select Save As... and with the popup with the filename and saving location being OK just hitting <Enter> doesn't do anything anymore. I now have to specifically click the "Save" button (or use <Alt>+S) to get my file saved. This is highly annoying as my muscle memory gets in the way all the time. Please get the original behavior back. Just found out the same behavior is with file upload.

Firefox has been laggy at times lately on my PC (Windows 11 Home, Firefox 152). I have tried some fixes with no success (clearing the cache, deleting YouTube cookies, using the User-Agent Switcher, etc.) Other browsers appear to be unaffected. I first noticed this on YouTube, but it seems that other websites are affected as well.

I have just been on the phone with my bank after arguing with their bot!

I was having trouble on their website, so they gave me some instructions over issues I was having on their website. I followed their instructions, but the changes I made were not registered. Suddenly, a message came up on my screen from the bank telling me that my firefox is not up to date, as it was only on version 152.0. I then checked to find that Firefox has just released an update to version 152.1.

Thinking that this should not really affect my connections with my bank, I looked up this forum to find that other users have had similar problems, and when investigated, it was the banks IT departments that have been too lazy to adjust their systems to Firefox updates. I also noted that last evening we were having buffering problems on our tv, which may or not have anything to do with the update, although I read from Mozilla Support that this too can happen.

Could you please confirm that this is our problem, and that it will soon correct itself. If not, could you please let us know if there are measures being to prevent this in the near future, as although the tv is not important, it has been a little stressful having to make important transactions with the bank.

I ask this with respect, knowing full well that you have provided me with many years of an excellent free service!

I had my desktop computer set up so that al the text was bigger on every page website and I had a contrast theme set up that worked for my vision. But today there was an update, and now I cannot read anything in any of the tabs in the navigation bar. I also can't read any of the text in any dropdown menus for the tabs. It did not effect the size of type of web pages, but it is causing me real problems with navigation. How can I fix this?

My I Mac is old 2014. Recently, I seem to get the spinning ball of death every time I try to load a page or even try to close a page. Articles take a long time to load, too. I am not the computer tech knowledgeable but the other day I found myself yelling at the computer because it was so frustrating trying to do anything.

I suppose it could be time for a new piece of equipment but that is not cost effective at this time.

Updated to Firefox 152.0.1 and I've noticed about:privatebrowsing now has a very bright garish (subjective) purple background; I'd like to replace this with something else.

Here's what I've tried so far:

  • Adding the css in this 2023 reddit post to my userchrome.css
  • Fiddling with about:config, per Ty and James' replies in this similar 2022 question
  • As a sanity check, directly editing the style element of the body tag in the inspector to check if `background-color: #424242` the css works. (obviously doesn't stick, see first point)
  • As a second sanity check, changing the colour in the userchrome.css to fuchsia, as I'd read in older articles there'd sometimes be a flash of colour before something else was applied and bright pink is easier to see than grey
  • Changing the Firefox theme from System theme (Auto) to Dark, Light, and then Firefox Alpenglow to see if that would change the background colour (it doesn't).

I do see that Alpenglow theme now matches about:privatebrowsing shockingly well, but it's not my preferred flavour of utilitarian blacks/dark greys.

Tried to show what I'm after, screenshot of about:privatebrowsing in a split view next to about:newtab. Other than above, the only other things in my userchrome.css are some styles to attempt to return curvy tabs edges.

Those instructions don't work and I'm sick of spending so much time on this problem these days.

Now thinking it happens after an update, which is a problem because they seem to come just days apart. None of the solutions offered works because right-clicking on the top doesn't do anything. Nor does going into the settings in the app on my laptop or online. I've downloaded and installed the latest version of Firefox more than once in the recent past. I've also shut down my laptop and rebooted. Nothing works. It's extremely annoying not to be able to access the features that I use *all the time*! day. I'm using a laptop with updated Windows 11.
