Tbird 115.2.1 stopped downloading emails on all accounts.
Tbird suddenly stopped downloading incoming email morning of Oct 5, 2023. It will allow outgoing mail. I have suspended my AVG software. I set troubleshooting mode in TBird menu. Have restarted PC and modem. On line support sites suggest going to TBird profile and removing>> global-messages-db.sqlite from Profile. Directions to find profile do not match any menu items or drop downs. I can go to Frontier Communications, my email provider and access email there. So I know their system is working. Any help greatly appreciated. M

Not really. Sort of. Another advice was to go to Programs click Uninstall and then Repair. But under Tbird Repair was not an option. So Tbird uninstalled. Gone. No trace in C drive or Program list. Downloaded Tbird again. Ran set up and tried to manually set Docs. Would not accept the server doc. So I uninstalled it. Went back to Download folder. Clicked Install Tbird again (.exe) and everything came back! Drafts, address book, sent, archives. Very odd. Now if this is stable great. Last time everything worked for two days then it would no longer download incoming - although sending worked. Great thanks to all who looked in on this.

suspending AVG is not enough. It lies about it's status. It is also often the firewall part that is the problem.
I suggest you try safe mode with networking on the operating system as that forces the issue with Av packages.
Instructions for each operating system: Windows 10/11, Windows 8, Windows 7, OSX
Thanks for the help. Win 7 instructions say to press F8 before Windows starts. Takes me to an ASUS bios start page. There are no options to start in Safe Mode with Networking. Used ALT method to get into Safe Node with Networking. That did not help. There is an option to Revert to Previous Version of Tbird. Is that a reasonable option. Other ideas? Thanks.

Thanks for the info. But I don't understand what you mean by "Docs". Do you mean directories?
Sorry.
Manually enter user name, email, POP server, authentication options, out going mail server et al.
Puzzled how the new Tbird installation "found" all the data - address book, downloaded mail, drafts etc, and plugged it into the new installation. An aspect of how applications function outside my knowledge base. Appreciate the folks on the help site. M
Back to same problem. Tbird allowed me to download about 8 emails. When i went back a few hours later and clicked Get Messages the line at bottom says: Host Contacted, sending log in information. Long wait then same Password fail message comes up on all accounts. restart Tbird with same result.
