I am a Thunderbird user for what was a verizon.net email account that was "bought out" by AOL a few years back. AOL recently notified me (and others, I assume) that my account was using "outdated security protocols...", that they could "...leave my account vulnerable...", and said I had until Dec 6 to invoke one of several options. Wanting to stay with Thunderbird and following their instructions, today I chose to remove Thunderbird and then reinstall it. Of course removal went fast and easy. Reinstall is another matter and I have had no luck, mostly because none of the passwords seem to be acceptable. Can someone help me get back to using Thunderbird for email and hopefully regain all my email folders and contacts that now appear to be gone. Thank you.

Hi - have a look at the answers on this earlier question https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1358710 and https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1357203 and if you look around there a re quite a few others who have been given this unhelpful instruction from AOL. Those two examples did get their emails back.
