I have three email accounts configured in Thunderbird. I updated to whatever the very last release is before v115, and when I was reading the Release Notes it said no more patches would be made for that version, and recommended upgrading to v115.2.0. I upgraded and now two of my three Junk folders are missing. After checking my settings (both accounts in question are set to "Move new junk messages to: Junk folder on <INSERT_ACCOUNT_NAME>" and doing a bunch of Googling I have no explanation as to why they've disappeared. As a test, I marked a message as Junk on one of the impacted accounts and the message disappeared from my Inbox and was nowhere to be found (I then had to press CTRL-Z to get it to reappear in my Inbox).

How do I restore the two missing Junk folders please?

Hi. First, I have more tech problems than I can shake a stick at and I m dealing with concussion and screens (monitors, cell phone, etc) aggravates and I don't track as well online as usual, so I'm asking for help sooner than I would hoping y'all can break it down very smply for me. Thanks for reading.

Thunderbird v.59.2 on Windows Vista desktop. Yup, Vista :-) Cable provider died, so years of emails to addresses using isp-provided email addresses are in Thunderbird but can't use emails.

In short term got TMobile 5G wireless and it is hideous, beware! For now I use my cell as hotspot to get on internet on old desktop.

I'll list what I've tried in a sec, but here's my ultimate goal: I want to get AT&T fiber installed and hooked up on new desktop (Windows 11) and install latest thnder bird there and bring over old files. Before installing at&t I have to formally cancel with former cable provider (it's in an odd limbo). I've assumed it's better to cull all email addresses related to those email accounts before severing all ties.

What I tried: Followed this thread https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1255223

I can't upgrade to v60 with Vista. I modified advanced config and added strict config Boolean setting and set to false and added check compatibility 59.2 setting and set to false.

The email crawler add on still gives me not compatible error. I restarted Thunderbird and that didn't help, unfortunately.

What can I do?

Again, my two main concerns are 1) harvest email address on my dead email accounts so I can send notifications of my new email addresses and 2) prepare to move all Thunderbird stuff to new desktop once I have working wireless internet to facilitate.

The recent upgrade to Thunderbird 115 has resulted in email sending failing with "enter credentials for steverenold@hotmail on smtp.office365.com", this is only a brief popup with a blank page. Another hotmail account is okay as are 2 gmail accounts. I am running Windows 11 fully updated.

Thunderbird 115.2.2 running in Win 10 Pro 22H2.

I have 4 email accounts configured in TB. Each account has its own Inbox, Outbox etc. The Inbox icon next to Inbox for 2nd and 4th accounts is missing unless I select either specific Inbox. The icon is always visible for 1st and 3rd Inbox, regardless of being selected or not (red boxes in left image, attached).

When I select Inbox for second account (blue background), the Inbox icon appears for this account, but not for 4th account (red boxes in right image). Similarly, selecting 4th Inbox makes that icon appear, but not the one for 2nd account.

Having unread mail in any Inbox has no effect on seeing the Inbox icon for any of the 4 accounts. Icons always appear for 1st and 3rd accounts...

Hi

I have a setup with my machine where I use different user accounts for different purposes as this helps me manage a large number of different applications and setups. I want to use the same Thunderbird profile for each of these users as I am the same physical person, these are logical users not different people, and therefore the profiles will never be in use simultaneously.

Research on the internet suggests that this can be done by copying the Thunderbird profile to a globally accesible directory and then using the Profile Manager to point profile.ini to the global profile. I have done this but when I try to launch Thunderbird from a different user I get a message box saying 'Thunderbird is already running, but it is not responding. The old Thunderbird process must be closed to open a new window.'. If I click on 'Close Thunderbird' the message reappears. I have confirmed in the Task Manager that the Thunderbird process is not running.

Strangely, if I launch Thunderbird from the command line version of the Profile Manager Thunderbird launches with the correct profile and appears to work fine. A forum post suggested deleting the parent.lock file in the profile and doing this does allow Thunderbird to launch with the correct profile but then I get error messages saying it could not load the message summary as it's too big.

I have looked at this link here but it's not clear what is meant by 'have each user "move it" using the profile manager'. There is no move option in the Profile Manager (as launched from the command line), just Create Profile, Rename Profile (which I've tried as another user with the same problem suggested) and Delete Profile.

Here is my current profile.ini for the users that won't launch Thunderbird.

This is more a opinion than a question. The new version of TB stinks. Imagine being in a rush, opening your computer, only to discover your email is completely different. I was furious.

Software developers need to consider the following:

1) Just because you can, doesn't mean you should. 2) The "great new and improved" is fine for those who either developed it or for those who are knowledgeable enough to grasp it. That leaves out a lot of people. 3) The lack of an option to revert entirely is a big mistake. 4) The new layout is atrocious. 5) Lastly, I have never understood the need for two different forms of searching for previous email.

Just my thoughts.

Also, when I selected the whole text (including the pasted text) and changed the body text to Arial, the pasted text stayed the same relative size to the other text in the email, no matter what size I changed the font to.

I need to figure out how to get access to the messages in my reading pane to be able to follow the thread. It seems that only one group has this problem. I have the messages grouped by subject and by unread.

The threads have the name of the poster and the first two sentences or so of the message. I can't tell if the messages that appear are read or unread. It would seem if they are read, they shouldn't be there at all, given my settings. There are multiple messages in the pane that opens. I tried to fix myself, but didn't have much luck. Thanks for your help.

After the update from version 102 to 115, some messages are coming in as garbled. See the attachment. This is more prevalent in version 115 now. Previously used to happen in version 102 and prior, but somehow stopped, although it does happen from time to time.

Now it has come back with many more garbled messages.

The from, subject, date and time are all missing.

Also in the previous versions 102 and before, the File menu used to be at the top, This supernova version brought Mail Space menu at the top instead, and I prefer the File Menu bar to be at the TOP. How do I do that? See attachment.

Hello Guys, I wanted to move a message from my inbox folder while speaking to someone. Alas, I moved the Inbox folder instead. Now, I've got two local folders named Inbox. One above the other. No delete option are given in either menus. So I tried to delete the actual files (Inbox.msf and Inbox) which where redundant. Alas; when I restarted Thundebird, both Inbox folders are showing. See the screen capture (here the folders are named in French "Courrier Entrant" I'm using POP to retrieve my emails so no IMAP here. I would be delighted to get some help. Many thanks in advance. Thunderbird on Ubuntu upgraded (automatically) to 115.2.3 (64-bit). 3 of 4 email accounts disappeared (not shown in INBOX, SENT, etc). However, going to Account Settings I see all four setups. All are POP. The only one that I see in INBOX was the first one setup. These have been working for years.

I do not understand proflles so need a lot of help.

I was guided to use Thunderbird by my computer repair man when Outlook Express became unavailable to me. Gods, I miss good old Outlook Express; I could do anything I wanted with that.
