Hi – I have been with Thunderbird for a while now but didn’t use your email program as I have been using Gmail for several years and still do. When I finished with my previous ISP, I copied the folders holding all my old emails to the hard disk on my PC. Is there any way I can use Thunderbird to read/delete these emails using my hard drive as the source and without using an ISP?

With the moving of Cox emails to Yahoo would it be feasible for Thunderbird to put an instruction list(with screenshots) of how to get all our TB email accounts from Cox to TB? Do we have to delete all our TB email accounts and re-enter them into TB under the new Yahoo or can we just change the server settings on the existing Cox settings? If just changing server settings what are the settings for the new yahoo? All my accounts are IMAP so if instructions could be made, maybe one for IMAP and one for POP for those who use either. Thank you

My service provider is QX.net which uses Magic Mail web email. I have Firefox 115.ll, 64 bit. I have Thunderbird 115.11.1, 32 bit.

The Magic Mail on my Server shows 253 unread messages. I have identified some of those 253 messages in my Thunderbird folder and they have been read, and are shown as read in Thunderbird. There seem to be 3 different dates involved. This is a concern as it is unacceptable not to receive all of my messages.

Please advise what I can do to address this so that I receive all my messages and so that when I have read them they are shown as "read" in Thunderbird and in Magic Mail.

Thank you so very much for any help.

I'm a keyboard only / screen reader user. I have been using thunderbird for a week and love it. I use the portable version. Anyway, is there a way to rearrange my email accounts without dragging? when I add an account I want it to not appear at the bottom of the list. could there be a way to rearrange said accounts either with a keyboard, or via a setting to move up and down the account via buttons and have it take effect in the tree view? I've been looking for such a solution for a while now. If not, might there be an add on I can use which can aid in doing this? thanks.

This just started. 115.11.1 (64-bit)

I cannot select multiple messages in any folder and move them to any other folder/ Filters will not work either.

As an example, I select 3 messages if my inbox and try to drag them to trash

I get an error popup that says "The messages could not be moved or copied to folder 'Trash on Local Folders' because writing to folder failed. To gain disk space, from the File menu, first choose Empty Trash, and then choose Compact Folders, and then try again."

Trash folder had been compacted and emptied.

Thanks for any help.

Company uses office 365, I have my Thunderbird. Since a couple of weeks sync issues appear (i.e.: TB has no right to delete folders in office 365). Finding a solution took several hours in various forums - nothing helps. - the only suggestion I didn'T try so far is asking the office365 helpdesk.

Problem description: When I delete folders they reappear at the old position. empting the trash yields also reappearance in trash. Same for moving folders - a copy is made, but at the old position and empty folder remains. They are gray - so hidden folders. Overwriting obviously does not work, as the folder already exist, but is not accessible. subscribing/unsubscribing does not work. In office365 the folders do not occur. If I create a folder in office 365 (web, outlook) it appears in TB. When I delete it in office 365 (web, outlook) it disappears in office 365 (web, outlook) but reamains - in gray - in TB. By now, the number of gray empty undeleteable folders has grown significantly. Only solution I got sofar is to switch from TB to outlook. :/

I have a SOGo server that holds my address book. The SOGo web interface allows setting of custom properties, something I have used for a long time without problems. I have accessed the address book with Thunderbird both on Windows and Linux (today Windows 11 and Debian 12).

Lately I have problems with synchronization and now I have tried to understand why. I believe that the problem is connected with the transition to vCard Storage in Thunderbird. (See https://developer.thunderbird.net/thunderbird-development/codebase-overview/address-book)

In the Thunderbird error console (on Debian 12 using Thunderbird 115.11.0(64-bit)) I get for a simple VCARD with one custom property (which I created in SOGo):

09:24:18,136 carddav.sync: Error parsing: BEGIN:VCARD UID:56377-6667FA00-1F-59090880.vcf VERSION:3.0 CLASS:PUBLIC PROFILE:VCARD N:With Custom 1;AAAAAAA FN:AAAAAAA CUSTOM1:My custom value END:VCARD CardDAVDirectory.jsm:595:15

09:24:18,136 NS_ERROR_UNEXPECTED: Unable to set Custom1 as a property, use vCardProperties

   setProperty resource:///modules/AddrBookCard.jsm:394
   vCardToAbCard chrome://sogo-connector/content/messenger/startup-overlay.js:551
   fetchAllFromServer resource:///modules/CardDAVDirectory.jsm:590

CardDAVDirectory.jsm:596:19

It does not matter if the SOGo Connector plugin is activated or not.

Best regards Jan

Hi,

I'm trying to automate / batch set the "When getting messages for this account, always check this folder"-setting for a large number of folders so I'm trying to figure how Thunderbird stores the setting(s) of which folders to always check for new mail.

Checking the `global-messages-db.sqlite` it seems like all folders that have the "always check folder"-setting have a `indexingPriority` value of 30 in the `folderLocations` table, but simply setting it to 30 for other folders does not enable the "always check folder"-setting so I guess that is set elsewhere. Where?

Also what other settings are set for the folder when enabling "When getting messages for this account, always check this folder" ?

Thanks in advance /frax

Dear Support,

we want to intergrade Thunderbird to our Microsoft 365 (Exchange Online), but we have massive problems with the authentication of our users.

I have allready configured an the Enterprise Application for Thunderbird in Entra ID and the Clients, excactly as documented in you article: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/microsoft-oauth-authentication-and-thunderbird-202

We have conditional access policies in out Entra ID, which allow only comliant devices to acess out Exchange Online.

The Thunderbird clients are running on these compliant devices (Windows ans macOS), but it seems that the client is not passing this information through the Oauth authentication (see screenshots 01 to 04 - I uploaded the configuration and all the steps of authentication).

I searched the internet for more then 3 days, but the only thing that I have found about this problem is this: https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1697805

In our Entra ID, we see in the sign-in logs, what excactly is happening with the conditional access (screenshots 05 to 07)

We use the newest client versions of thunderbird.

Can you please help me on this? We realy want to continue to use Thunderbird!

I decided to uninstall TB that had the problem. I did that, but when I reinstalled it, it had all of the same settings and problems. I used RevoUnstaller. because it said When I reinstalled it, all of the stuff and the problem were back.

What is the best way to fix this?

Hi,

My issue is that my Thunderbird sent folder is not showing any emails that I send from my iphone or ipad, whether I use the native Mail app or the Microsoft Outlook app. I can't find these sent emails in any folder in Thunderbird.

I'm using an Exchange email account from my university. Using Thunderbird 115.11.1 (64-bit) on Windows 10.

My iphone and ipad are running iOS 17.5.1.

Emails sent from my iphone or ipad do appear in the sent folder on my university's webmail interface which is outlook.office.com.

If this is relevant. in Thunderbird's "Account Settings" under "Copies & Folders" it's set to "When sending messages, automatically ... Place a copy in ... "Sent Folder on ... <myemailaddresshere>" -- if that helps.

I searched but haven't found any information online about this issue.

Thank you,

kate
