How to block google ads in search results
I want 'clean' google search results in Firefox, just like the AdGuard extension provides in Chrome. See screenshot #1. The best I've been able to achieve with Firefox is with ABP and disabling accedeptable ads. See screenshot 2. Obvious ads have been removed but booking.com get 2 of the top 10 places as does getyourguide.com These 4 returns in the top 10 cannot have not got there simply by way of google's algorhythmn. Adguard in Firefox does not produce the same very acceptable result as it does in Chrome. As a browser I prefer Firefox but unless I'm able to get around this I'll end up setting Chrome to be my default browser.
Chosen solution
I get completely different results, because google uses a variety of factors to determine what to present.
If you go to about:support, what do you see under Extensions?

You can install an adblocker such as uBlock origin, https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/ublock-origin/
uBlock is far superior to Adblock Plus. Please remove all other adblockers though.

"uBlock is far superior to Adblock Plus. Please remove all other adblockers though"
It's not superior when running in Firefox - it gives the same results as ABP. See screenshot2 again. And I don't ever have more than one adblocker ever running at a time.
Could someone please re-read my question and address what i ask rather than make what seem to be untested suggestions. I want Firefox to return the same results as Adguard does when installed in Chrome. If a google search using the term "motor museum" returns booking.com and getyourguide.com as the first 2 results the search result has been 'tampered' with. Chrome with Adguard doesn't have the problem, nor does Chrome with uBlock! Only Firefox and every adblocking extension I've tried returns tampered with results.
Please look at the screenshots carefully.
Looking closely at your screenshot, that ad doesn't look like one of Google's typical ads. It's possible your computer has malware on it. Can you run a scan with www.malwarebytes.com to rule that out?
Yes, the thought had crossed my mind as a remote possibility. I did run Malwarebytes before posting and got a clean bill of health.
If you use google.co.uk with the search term 'motor museum' in a Firefox browser what results do you get? The same as my screenshot1 or 2?

I saw a mix of true and false (enabled/disabled). I'd installed quite a number in attempting to solve the problem but always disabled whatever was active each time a new one was to be tried. I decided to tidy things up and removed all disabled extensions. Now the search results return what I would expect! I'm lost as to how something disabled could cause something to occur but am glad that at last it's sorted.
