This is a miserable new user process - It said I posted a question* but can't find it to delete? (not this question*)

First - I don't see a place to ask questions about the forums - so I'm asking in "Thunderbird" since that's why I registered.

I wanted to register and ask a Thunderbird question here. It makes you submit a question subject to register then it sends you a confirmation email. Weird process but whatever - fine to this point. I'm writing the message with care and wasn't going to submit until later but I clicked the link in the confirmation email now. PROBLEM: THE CONFIRMATION TELLS ME IT POSTED MY QUESTION.... which was a badly worded phrase that needed text to explain - which I was going come back to to finish writing. So now I'm running late to something and taking time to undo that. The dropdown for my username says no questions. Is that true or is there a delay? Or was the email confirmation page text the bug? I'd like not to pollute the message boards with garbage - and now I have to ask this question which is slightly less garbage.

To find out how to register I had to google search this site to find other users complaining that they had to do the same thing. So since it's not just me let me add my 2 cents and say - please just add a "register here" link somewhere - I don't think it will confuse anyone. I get that you're trying to tailor things to the hoards of tech-not-so-smart people out there but since 99% of the internet to this point asks you to register first you're probably infuriating most of your userbase. Most of your userbase is more tech-savvy than average no?

Anyhow - thanks for Firefox and Thunderbird =)

Okay, feel free to post a real question now.

To access your existing questions, at the top of each page, there's a menu labeled with your user name that provides access to your profile and to "My Questions".

To bring up things about the https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/ can be done in https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/forums/contributors (you use same account to post there).

It is pretty standard practice on forums for you to get a account activation email sent to email used to make the forum account. This is part can help to minimize spam, though with some forum software not so much due to automated posting tools.

To have the more traditional way of a Register link has its own issues. You would still need to click a account activation link in email anyways.

When people come here and post about their issue(s), Mozilla prefers people ask in their own threads instead of hijacking an existing thread on same or similar subject. Thread hijacks would increase significantly in traditional account registration. https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/forum-rules-and-guidelines#w_posting-support-requests

The Ask a Question process also introduces the person to the Knowledge Base of articles https://support.mozilla.org/ potentially related to their issues and may even help solve some or all problems before posting.

To post your own Thread look at top of any support.mozilla.org page where there is a ASK A QUESTION link.
