I've lately been having issues with Firefox having these "scrolling hiccups" when on sites, especially on YouTube and Facebook. From the forums, the issue seems to be with an add-on called Last Past and to fix it, the check box for "click icons in field" needs to be unchecked -- the only problem is I don't have this thing as an add-on, so I have no idea how to fix this. I always clear my browsing, history, cache and such routinely due to me constantly searching things as a writer but that doesn't seem to help. I also can't seem to find the "Advanced" options on my Firefox settings, which is something a moderator directed someone else to, so I can't follow that advice as fully. Everything is up to date. Nothing appears to be wrong. Does anyone have any advice on how to fix this? It's really obnoxious and happens virtually every time I scroll.

Hi, Good for you. Let us know if you need further help on that if it returns.

fyi, OpenH264 Video Codec (Mozilla), the other is Widevine Content Decryption Module (Google) Would be sound and video so that is never the issue with those.

If you explain what it is you want to do, we can tell you. Some options are available on the about:preferences page, but others are hidden away.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode {web link} by holding down the <Shift> (Mac=Options) key, and then starting Firefox.

A small dialog should appear. Click Start In Safe Mode (not Refresh). Is the problem still there?

I just tried safe mode. The jumping doesn't seem to happen when I scroll, though I still do occasionally get a hiccup in cursor movement -- that however is much rarer and usually on occurs after I open new tabs/windows and move the cursor.

This must mean an plugin or extension is causing the problem. I can say right now it can't be Norton Identity Safe (an add-on) because it's disabled due to it constantly crashing. The only other add-ones I have are Adblock Plus and Norton Safe Search. I'll try to disable those individually to see which is causing the problem. I don't think the two plug-ins I have are a problem: one is by you guys and the other is by Google -- one is called OpenH264 Video Codec (Mozilla), the other is Widevine Content Decryption Module (Google). I'm a little nervous about disabling them for fear of breaking Firefox, and because those are default I hesitate to think they're causing the hiccups.

Update: I disabled both Adblock Plus and Norton Safe Search together and individually. I couldn't discern which was doing it because it wouldn't happen in either instance. I did in the process discover that disabling and re-enabling them both appears, at a glance, to have fixed the problem.
