When I go to retrieve my mail, it tells me "Sending of password did not succeed. Mail server Pop gogglemail.com responded: Username and password not accepted." Then it tells me "Login to server pop.googlemail.com failed." When I enter a new password as requested, it tells me "Sending of password did not succeed. Mail server pop.googlemail.com responded: User name and password not accepted." Again. So how do I get my email????????

Thanks, Sue

Chosen solution

In the gmail webmail account accessed via a browser, have you selected this option : 'Less secure apps' ? If no then select that option.

re :When I enter a new password as requested Did you logon to webmail account, select 'Less secure apps' , then update the password, then update the stored pop mailbox and smtp password in Thunderbird?

'Menu icon' > 'Options' > 'Options' > 'Security' > 'Passwords' tab click on 'Saved Passwords' click on 'show Passwords'

You will see mailbox and smtp acount name with the username and passwords for each. right click on each line and select 'EDit password clear all the old password and enter same password you used to access webmail. click on OK.
