I was infected with Malware. I wanted to uninstall Firefox and reinstall. I did, but after the reinstall, the bookmarks, everything was still there.

Further info, it was Trovi search. I bought ESET, downloaded Adaware and Malwarebytes and it's still there. I also use the Opera tabs add on and that doesn't work either

Hello Cark, you have to Remove user data and settings, to do that, but why you want to do it ? You have to set up your bookmarks (and other data) again.

thank you

It's not that I wanted to remove the Bookmarks etc. perse, It's that I didn't feel it would of been a complete uninstall if that info was still there after a reinstall. I began to wonder "what else wasn't deleted?". The Trovi search is still present after the uninstall and reinstall. I can't find where it is to delete. Thanks for your input

Your settings like Bookmarks, Passwords, History, Cookies, Extensions and Themes and such are not in Firefox program folder but in a Profile regardless if using Mac OSX, Linux or Windows.

Follow the removal instructions that ideato hyperlinked. Not everything that Trovi installed on your PC resides within Firefox folders; sometimes garbage like that goes so far as to infect the Registry and if you don't get rid of it all it will just reinstall itself into Firefox all over again on launch.

MalwareTips.con is one of the best and most consistently correct websites I have found for dealing with Malware, as linked by ideato. http://malwaretips.com/blogs/trovi-com-removal/

Thank you for the info and help James and The-Edmeister. I will follow your advice
