left-click on firefox icon in taskbar shows a list of all open tabs. Windows 7 -- Solution

I am accustomed to having an app icon appear on the Windows 7 Task bar and it will list the number of windows open if I left click it. But the Firefox icon appears to have many windows open, except that each entry is a different tab in the one window I do have open..

"Zero" has an archived question along the same lines in which he got an answer, and I was trying to find the "was this answer helpful?" to add a yes vote to it, but can't vote on things in the archive..

So I am posting a similar question, with the answer that I found helpful.

SOLUTION In Tools > Options, open the "Tabs" tab: Uncheck the check box for, "Show tab previews in the Windows taskbar."

In my case the task bar icon immediately displayed one entry for the open window, carrying the title of the currently open tab. Zero had to restart Firefox to see his new setting take effect.

Now, if I have opened another window in Firefox, the Firefox icon shows a list of the open windows. It does cut down the clutter!

Zero was running Windows 7 and Firefox 22, I am in Firefox 34.
