Upgraded to 31.3.0
Hello,
I have upgraded to 31.3.0 version on several computers for testing purposes. Without changing any client or server configuration I am receiving 'Sending of message failed. The message could not be sent because the connection to SMTP server <hostname> timed out. Try again or contact your network administrator.' The SMTP is configured like this:
server name: <hostname> port: 465 user name: user authentication method: normal password Connection security: SSL/TLS
Can you please help me fix this issue?
Thank you, Alex

Check to see if the firewall blocked the new version of Thunderbird. Sometimes firewalls see a major version update as new software and block it.
Thank you for your answer. Thunderbird is not blocked by firewall. Is there anything else that i can do?
As long as these are the correct server settings then I do not know why you are having issues. Does your email provider allow port 587 for SMTP? If so you could try that instead of port 465.
It is almost always the firewall rejecting the new version if all other things have remained the same.
I have the same problem after upgrading to TB 31.3.0. I've found though, that when I hit the Send button 3 times, on the 3rd try, the message will go through. The first two times, I get the same 'SMTP Timeout' message that the original poster is getting.
No configs were changed, only difference is that TB was upgraded from 20-something to 31.3.
Were there any connection-related changes implemented with v.31?
