I'm running firefox 26 and when I view my plugins (Tools>Add-ons>Plugins), I see both Shockwave for Director 12.0.7.148 and 12.0.5.146. When I click 'Check to see if your plugins are up to date' link, Shockwave for Director 12.0.7.148 is the only one that is listed and shows as up to date.

Is this all right, or do I need to remove 12.0.5.146 and if so how do I do it?

Thanks, Robert

You can remove the older Shockwave for Director plugin or remove them both (uninstall via the Windows Control Panel).
Shockwave for Director is a different plugin than the Shockwave Flash Player and is hardly use these days.

Go here to check if your plugins are indeed up to date: http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/plugincheck/

For me, it says my Shockwave for Director is out-of-date but I don't pay attention because it is rarely used now. You can uninstall the out-of-date one if you wish and it wouldn't have any effect on Firefox. In order to uninstall a possibly unwanted extension, please do the following:

  1. From the Firefox window click the Firefox button at the top left and select Add-ons, or, if the Firefox button is not shown, click the Tools menu and click Add-ons.
  2. Once the Add-on Manager has opened in a new tab, click the Extensions button on the left side of the window.
  3. You should now see a list of your installed extensions on the right side together with buttons on the right side of each extension.
  4. To remove an extension from Firefox, simply click the Remove button. You should see a message that informs you about the successful removal of the add-on.
  5. Note that some add-ons require a Firefox restart to be removed completely. To perform a Firefox restart after the add-on removal, click the Restart now link in the message.

You can find further information about uninstalling extensions in the following articles:

I've look in Windows Control Panel (Programs & Features) for (2) Shockwave Directors, there's only (1), BUT.....there is (2) in Firefox Plugins. If I disable the older version, it will automatically disable the newer version....CONCLUSION....ANOTHER FIREFOX BUG......WHICH AS WE ALL ARE AWARE OF....WILL NEVER BE FIXED.

Have any more bright ideal on how to get rid of the older version of Shockwave Director located in FIREFOX PLUGINS?
