I cannot log onto internet with either Firefox or Explorer. I first called my cable company, Time Warner. They spent an hour and a half and couldn't fix the problem. They had me disconnect my Norton Security and my router and plug my modem directly into my desktop computer. I did that and was able to connect to the internet through Google Chrome only. They then told me to contact Norton, which I did. Norton said they couldn't find any security problem and to get in touch directly with Firefox and Explorer. I haven't tried Explorer yet because I prefer using Firefox and would like to get it working again first. Please help!

If this is something that is happening with both Firefox and Internet Explorer I would suspect it is your ISP, or something else on your computer. You can try a few steps here though:

First, try to reset Firefox. Refresh Firefox - reset add-ons and settings. This simple step will eliminate many Firefox problems with only one click.

A few other basic trouble shooting things you can try is this: Run all Windows Updates, install all needed service packs, etc.

Update your graphics driver (Firefox uses your graphics card for some rendering, and an out of date graphics card driver can cause problems. Upgrade your graphics drivers to use hardware acceleration and WebGL

Update all your plugins (Flash, Java, etc.): http://www.mozilla.org/plugincheck/.

Download and Install MalwareBytes Anti-Malware, run a full Scan. http://www.malwarebytes.org/. This helps check that there are no viruses on your computer causing issues. You can uninstall this program after you clean off any infections.

If this doesn't help, I would suggest uninstalling (best option) or disabling (if you must keep it) norton. After that, test again. I would suggest using another anti-virus such as Microsoft Security Essentials as your permanent anti-virus. http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows/products/security-essentials.
