Most of my buttons have disappeared except the send button, which doesn't work. Online help is confusing or doesn't fix the problem. I'm ready to move to a different platform. Why is this so difficult?

Try this:

Open TB in [Troubleshoot mode](https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/troubleshoot-mode-thunderbird/).

- check 'Reset toolbars and controls'

- click 'Make Changes and Restart'

If that didn't help, open your TB profile:

- go to TB menu > Help > Troubleshooting Information

- click the Application Basics > Profile Folder 'Open Folder' button

- close TB and delete the xulstore.json file in the profile folder

- restart TB
