Hello, When I paste a screenshot/image from clipboard then in body I see a image who is dataimagepng;base64;... format. When I check the Sent folder I see file like dpaobdniadeediid.png . I use "mail.compose.attach_http_images;true" who in my opinion should be default.

Question: Can ThunderBird save/copy the image additional as normal attachment ? This will be a duplication of every pasted screenshot but this is very neccessery when I send to someone who cannot support this embeded image and he see that image is not at attachment.

Example: Unable to render embedded object: File (gfjlednmemkaajla.png) not found.

My TB is 60.3.3 (32bit); release; Win10 64bit

If you insert an image in the body, either by copy and paste or Insert/Image..., check the box in the image properties 'Attach this image to the message'. A recipient (or yourself, if you view the sent message) will normally see the embedded image, but not an attachment, if they view the message as Original HTML, or the equivalent with their email program. If you choose View/Message Body as Plain Text, the image is shown as a normal attachment. So, that would be how a recipient could see the image as an attachment when they can't view embedded images.

I have always have this checkbox enable because auto-enable this checkbox is doing by "mail.compose.attach_http_images;true".

I write message as HTML because I have more control on content. I try found a dual-stack solution to have html format of mails and duplicate of attachment as a classical attachment.

If the about:config haven't a build'in switch to do that then maybe someone know any addon to ThunderBird who will be save pasted images in body additional as classic attachment too.

You could try and set the Send Options (see attached picture) to always send plain text and html. But I think the best method is to uncheck 'Attach this image to the message' in embedded image properties, and manually attach the image in the usual way. That way, the recipient will see a classic attachment whether or not they view the message as html or plain text, and the image won't be attached twice to the image.

When I set to convert msg to CLEAR TEXT then my pasted image was not deliver at any form, not classic attachment but just not included to conversion.

When I use both Text+Html and send mails with and without this "Attach this image to the message" then message was receive with picture. "Attach..." version convert a base64 into png file in body of massage but the versin "WithOut Attach..." is just base64.

Final conclusion is that ThunderBird cannot move/copy image from BODY into Attachment. You not write anything about addon - I not know that any of them do this like operation.

I think I must create a Python script who will be do action like "save photo from clipboard and open in explorer his localization". Then I can just Drag&Drop into Attachment field.

I cannot write addon to Mozilla to enters to evil Google addon way... .

SOLVED I found a addon "Attach from Clipboard" 1.0.2 from "Michael Ganss".

Standard CTRL+V is paste normal screenshot into body. ALT+SHIFT+V - paste from clipboard into attachment - PERFECT. I can rename the new attachment name and THIS IS SOLUTION.

Case can be closed. Thanks for your help and time !!.
